Get Started with Popup Storefronts

Overview

Overview of Popup Storefronts and how to create one

With a Popup Storefront, consumers can complete a purchase without leaving your website. Your website prepares the order contents using the Store Builder Library. Then, a checkout window appears in a LightBox popup right on top of any page of your website, providing an uninterrupted and fully controllable user experience.

In the video below, the integration uses the Store Builder Library to initiate the checkout. It relies on the FastSpring API to validate the order following completion of a purchase. This enables activation of the purchased software.

Using the Popup Storefront improves conversions. When you combine it with the Store Builder Library, you can customize the checkout flow without the limitations of the hosted carts. The Store Builder Library allows you to create and customize checkout scenarios by providing you with direct, client-side access to ecommerce data.

When using a Popup Storefront, we recommend that you deploy a security certificate and use the https: protocol for your website. Otherwise, most web browsers do not display a closed padlock icon for your page, and some display warning messages about non-secure pages. For more information, see Popup Storefronts and Browser Security Features

Default Storefronts

Each Store has a default Web Storefront that controls the appearance and styling of the Account Management site. All of your consumers can view and manage their orders via this site, including consumers who purchased via a Popup Storefront. No Popup Storefront can be the default Storefront for your store. Your default Web Storefront must be online to affect the appearance and styling of the Account Management site.

Create a New Popup Storefront

  1. Select Storefronts > Popup Storefronts on the left menu of the FastSpring App.
  2. Click the Create Popup Storefront  button on the right side of the page. The dialog appears.
  3. In the Company Sub-Directory Storefront ID field, enter an ID for your new Popup Storefront. The ID you enter becomes part of the Storefront's URL. For example, if you wanted to create a unique Storefront for a holiday promotion, you might enter holiday.

Copy an Existing Popup Storefront

If you already have a Popup Storefront that you want to use as a starting point, you can create a copy of an existing Popup Storefront. The settings and products assigned to the existing Popup Storefront are duplicated in the copy, potentially saving you the time of configuring those things manually

  1. Select the Storefronts > Popup Storefronts on the left menu of the FastSpring App.
  2. Click the More button on the Storefront you want to copy, and then select Copy.
  3. In the To New Storefront URL field, enter an ID for your new Popup Storefront. The ID you enter becomes part of the Storefront's URL. For example, if you wanted to create a unique Storefront for a holiday promotion, you might enter holiday.
    • Do not click the dropdown selector to the left of the field, unless you intend to replace an existing Storefront completely.

  4. Click the Finish button. Your new Popup Storefront will appear in the list of Storefronts.
