Introducing the FastSpring App

Overview

This article highlights the key changes between the FastSpring Dashboard and the FastSpring App.

The FastSpring App (formerly the FastSpring Dashboard) has been completely updated with a new look and feel.  To minimize the impact of becoming familiar with the new experience, the major menu names have not changed, but the layout and presentation of your Store data has been improved.  This article highlights the key changes between the FastSpring Dashboard and the FastSpring App.

 

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are the answers to some frequently asked questions about the updates.

  • Question:  Has any functionality changed with these updates?

    Answer:  One of our goals in designing the FastSpring App was to ensure that all functionality and capabilities from the Dashboard are preserved and available in the FastSpring App. There are also many improvements in the interface and new capabilities that did not exist before. Please read on in this document for an overview. 

  • Question:  If I have a suggestion regarding the new look and feel, what is the best way to submit feedback?

    Answer:  At the top right-hand corner of any page in the FastSpring App, click the feedback button illustrated below. You can submit feedback directly to our Product team via this method.

  • Question:  What if I cannot find a particular feature that I am used to using in the Dashboard?

    Answer:  Please contact our Support team for assistance, and we will be happy to help you.

 

Font Changes and Color Adjustments

The FastSpring App has been designed using updated font faces and color selections, with a few key goals in mind:

  • To provide a more modern, contemporary look and feel
  • To improve readability of your FastSpring Store data
  • To highlight useful features of your FastSpring Store and help you get the most out of your experience

Key elements of the navigation experience have been improved to help you quickly and easily get around the feature-rich pages.

Vertical Navigation Menu

To improve overall usability, the navigation menu has been redesigned as a vertical menu on the left-hand side of every page in the FastSpring App. None of the menu items have been changed, so everything is still on the same menus where you may be used to seeing it. A new Dashboard shortcut has been added to the top of the menu to let you quickly and easily return to the Dashboard page (which features a series of graphs to illustrate revenue trends in real-time). In the FastSpring Dashboard, it was necessary to click the Store menu and then select View Dashboard to get back to this page.


 

Three-Tier Breadcrumbs

A brand new three-tier breadcrumb system has been implemented to help you keep track of your place in the pages of the App and quickly return to a previous page. In the breadcrumb navigation, simply click the hyperlink of the page to which you want to return.

Switching Between Stores

Many FastSpring clients have more than one FastSpring Store. Each Store has a unique set of products, promotions, Storefronts, and reporting.

In the Dashboard, if you wanted to switch between Stores, it was necessary to click the Store menu, select View All Stores, and then click the desired Store on a separate page. In the FastSpring App, you can accomplish the same Store switch in just two clicks.

Sub-page Improvements

Some of the pages containing sub-pages, such as Orders page under the Activity menu, have been redesigned to replace the additional list of sub-pages on the left-hand side of the page with navigational tabs arrayed horizontally across the top of the page. This improves ease of use and provides a more contemporary appearance.

Product Catalog Improvements

We have redesigned the Products to allow multiple products to be displayed more efficiently. We have added sortable columns to give you another way to find what you are looking for. You can also control the number of records displayed on the page, and use the controls at the bottom right-hand corner of the page to switch between pages when you have a large number of filtered records.

 

Product Details Improvements

We have completely refreshed the layout and appearance of the product details page.  When you click a product on the Products menu, the new product detail layout features groups of fields that have been reorganized to put the most frequently used fields at the top of the page.  We have grouped the fields into related sections, and updated the layout based on actual page usage in the Dashboard.

The  button has been relocated to the top of the page provides quick access to the various product-specific URLs, including test links, live URLs for customers, and the option to view the product in a Popup Storefront.

Several less-common product commands that previously had separate buttons are now grouped under the menu, also at the top right-hand corner of the page.


Further down the page, the various Product Offer and Product Options have been grouped into the Related Offers section.

The Advanced section (not pictured above) contains fields such as the SKU and Long Description.

 

 

Activity Menu Improvements

Like the Products menu, we have redesigned the pages of the Activity menu for increased usability and productivity. Sortable columns give you another way to find what you are looking for, you can control the number of records displayed on the page, and the controls at the bottom right-hand corner of the page let you switch between pages when you have a large number of filtered records.

 

Order Detail Page Improvements

The order detail page is where you view all of the details of each transaction, including customer information, items that were included in the order, and order totals. The FastSpring App includes a completely updated order detail page. The new design includes numerous improvements with a few key elements:

  • We have reorganized the contents of the page into groups of related order details, for better ease of use.
  • We took inspiration from the layout of invoices in the redesign of the page.
  • A gray banner at the top of the page highlights key order data.

Subscription Detail Page Improvements

We have redesigned the subscription detail page for better ease of use and a more modern look and feel.

  • We have reorganized the contents of the page into groups of related subscription details, for better ease of use.
  • A gray banner at the top of the page highlights key subscription data.
  • The subscription ID, which was previously not included on the page at all, now appears in the key subscription data banner.
  • A new block on the right-hand side of the page shows upcoming events for the subscription.

To improve the implementation process for new Popup Storefronts, we have streamlined the Storefront Settings menu by grouping similar items together in a reduced number of sub-pages.
