Overview

This article explains what payment methods are available for receiving disbursements from FastSpring, and how to change your payment method.

Payment Methods Available by Location

There are currently six payment methods available by which you can collect your funds from FastSpring. Not all payment methods are available in all locations. The payment methods available to you can vary depending upon your location.

MethodAvailability
Direct Deposit (ACH)United States bank accounts only
International Direct Deposit (IACH)Certain countries only; see the complete list in IACH below
Payoneer Prepaid MasterCardNo FastSpring restrictions; available everywhere Payoneer is available
PayPalNo FastSpring restrictions; available everywhere PayPal is available
Physical Check / OtherUnited States addresses only
Wire TransferBank accounts outside the United States only (for U.S. bank accounts, please use ACH)

Detailed information about each payment method is available below.

What is the Difference Between Wire Transfers and International Direct Deposits (ACH)?

International Direct Deposit (IACH) may be less expensive than a wire transfer, but it is potentially slower. It is also limited to the currency of your local direct deposit banking system. For example:

  • A client in Europe can only receive payment in Euros via the SEPA system, so we cannot make an IACH deposit in Swedish Krona (SEK), for example.
  • Similarly, a client in Europe can only receive payment in Euros via the SEPA system (via IACH) - not by wire transfer.
  • A client in the United Kingdom can only receive payment in Pounds Sterling via the BACS system, so we cannot make an IACH deposit in U.S. Dollars, for example.
  • A client in Canada can only receive payment in Canadian Dollars via the EFT system.

FastSpring cannot make direct deposit disbursements in U.S. Dollars to bank accounts outside of the United States. Direct deposits are processed overnight.

 Important

Direct deposits outside of the U.S. incur a conversion fee of 2.5% of the deposit amount. Depending on the amount of the payment, a wire transfer may be a cheaper option.

A wire transfer is almost immediately deposited into the client's account. Wire transfers incur a fee of $15.00 each. Wire transfers are the only option when you want to receive a currency that is not the local currency. For example, if you are in the United Kingdom and would like to receive U.S. dollars rather than British Pounds, the USD needs to be wired to the account in the United Kingdom. A wire transfer is also necessary when FastSpring's bank does not have a local presence in your country. That is, in any country that does not appear in the list of countries found in the International Direct Deposit (IACH) section of this article.

 Multi-Currency Note

Some countries have more than one currency. For example, Switzerland has Swiss Francs (CHF), and Sweden has Swedish Krona (SEK), and they both have Euros (EUR). Because EUR is part of the SEPA payment system, FastSpring can deposit EUR directly into clients' bank accounts in those countries. However, FastSpring's bank does not have a local presence in Switzerland nor Sweden. Without a banking presence in those countries, FastSpring can only make payments in CHF and SEK via wire transfer (not IACH).

Making Changes to Your Payment Method

 Check out our guided walk-through

Would you like to have the system walk you through setting up a payment method? Click here.

To make changes to your payment method, click the Store menu at the top left-hand corner of the Dashboard, and select Account Summary.

Then, click the Edit link below the Payment Method on the right-hand side of the page.

On the Payment Methods page, click the OPTIONS command at the top right-hand corner of the page, and then select to enter the payment details for your desired payment method.

If you have previously set up multiple payment methods, you can control which payment method FastSpring uses by clicking Select next to the desired method. The currently selected payment method has the word Selected in place of a Select link.

You can also click Delete to remove a previously-entered payment method. However, you cannot delete the currently selected payment method. Therefore, if you need to delete the current payment method, you must first enter a different payment method and select that.

Making a change to your selected payment method may take up to five business days to take effect. When you make a change, a notice to that effect is displayed.

Please click one of the following links to jump to the corresponding section of the document.
