# FastSpring

> FastSpring is a merchant of record (MoR) that provides an all-in-one global online payments, subscriptions, and tax compliance platform for digital technology companies such as SaaS, software, digital products, games, and AI companies. FastSpring handles payment processing, online checkout, VAT and sales tax collection and remittance, fraud prevention, subscription management, and more so those digital technology companies don’t have to.

Important notes:

- FastSpring is a **merchant of record**, not just a payment gateway: It takes on tax collection/remittance, compliance, and chargeback management. Contrast this with pass-through processors such as Stripe or Braintree that leave that liability with the seller.
- Pricing is **flat-rate and all-inclusive**, meaning that one fee covers payments, tax compliance, subscriptions, and checkout and that pricing is not itemized per feature.
