In this post, we’re featuring our Inside Sales Representative, Nick Jones!

What is your current role at FastSpring?

I am currently an Inside Sales Representative at FastSpring. I help customers with implementation and adding FastSpring to their website. I also outbound to our prospects and book meetings for them with our Account Executives.

How long have you been in your current role?

I have been in my current role a year and a half but have been with the company for a total of two and a half years.

Has it been challenging to perform your role during this remote work time due to COVID-19?

I miss having the collaboration as a team when we were all in the office together because it was sometimes easier to discuss amongst each other. But working from home also has its benefits, and I think it’s impressive that the company has continued to be so successful.

What did you do before FastSpring/How did you get to where you are today?

I worked in hospitality and was a substitute teacher right after college. My first job in sales was for a medical device company, but it was tough commuting to Los Angeles, so I decided to try selling software and got a job at LogMeIn (formerly known as Citrix). I was a Sales Development Representative there for around two and a half years before I joined FastSpring.

What inspired you to join FastSpring?

I wanted to work for a smaller company to have a bigger impact on the organization. I really like working with our customer base of software companies and helping them grow.

What made you want to join our Sales team?

It was exciting joining a sales team with a new Business Development program. I was one of the first hires to do outbound prospecting. Which means I was on the front lines of adopting new programs such as video prospecting. It has kept the role fun.

What does a typical day look like for Nick at FastSpring?

Most calling activity happens in the morning since we are talking to prospects on the East Coast, Europe, and India. After that, I normally conduct discovery calls, make product demos, and work on implementations all throughout the day. The end of the day is mostly used for making personalized videos and researching companies to prospect for the upcoming days. There’s never a shortage of things to do!

What excites you every day about working at FastSpring?

The people I work with and that our platform allows our customers to sell more effectively with fewer tools and resources related to payment processing, subscription billing, and tax management.

Describe a favorite memory of your time at FastSpring.

Definitely the Sales Summit at Leadbetter beach and the video project. Each team had to come up with a story on how we’ve helped our clients improve their checkout experience and the results that came from it. We then got to vote at the end of the day which video was the best. Also, playing ping pong at the Carrillo office has helped me get to know the engineering and customer support teams better. The ping pong tournament was really fun too.

What are your favorite hobbies and activities outside of work?

Surfing, spearfishing, playing guitar, spending time with friends and family especially my wife and our mini Australian shepherd, and house projects. Right now I am currently fixing up my backyard.

What is a fun fact most people may not know about you?

My first job in high school was working at a Jack-in-the-Box. My grandfather was a franchisee owner of several in Orange County.
