At FastSpring, we take our company mission, vision, and values seriously. They are a big part of what makes FastSpring the leading all-in-one ecommerce platform for digital businesses around the world, and a great place to work.

One of the ways we showcase our mission, vision, and values is our annual Fall Summit event. Employees from all over—Nebraska, Arizona, Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia, and Amsterdam—came together at the Santa Barbara headquarters this month for three days of learning, networking, and fun.

It’s hard to capture all of the amazing activities the team participated in, however, check out some of the highlights from Fall Summit below.

FastSpringers were ready for their close up at the first-ever FastSpring Film Festival.

To kick off Fall Summit 2018, FastSpringers were placed into teams and tasked with creating a fun video that showed how FastSpring helps thousands of businesses around the world sell more digital goods online.

Working as a remote employee it is sometimes hard to feel connected with your co-workers. Getting the opportunity to come together and participate in wonderful team building exercises really helps to remind us that we are all working toward the same goal. It’s also exciting to see how much FastSpring has grown. – Beth Thorpe, Customer Support Representative

Each team was able to choose a specific film genre for their video. We saw submissions that were action-packed thrillers, spooky horror stories, and even a Forrest Gump parody. There is no doubt the FastSpring team is a creative bunch!

I am thrilled to work at a company that places such emphasis on bringing the whole team together from all over the world with these events. It was incredible to see how big we’ve become in just a little over a year. I look forward to the next chapter of growth with my amazing coworkers. – German Torres, Staff Accountant

The most challenging aspect was that teams were only given 4 hours to pitch, write, shoot, and edit their videos. It was so much fun to see everyone work together to create these cinematic masterpieces.

Teams battled for eternal glory on the beach at the FastSpring Olympics.

“It was a great opportunity to meet colleagues I don’t normally get to see as a remote employee in Amsterdam. I’m glad I had the time to get to know them on a more personal level. I am happy that I could leave the summit with new friends.” – Alejandra Herrera, Business Development Rep

After a fun day exercising our creative muscles, the FastSpring team took over the beach for some team building activities with the Santa Barbara Adventure Company. Each team tried their hand at the Helium Stick, the water balloon launcher, blind mini golf, and many more fun events.

Not only were these various activities a great way to spend a sunny day at the beach, but they also helped the team focus on teamwork, communication skills, and problem-solving.

“I think having time to work together, chat and laugh really goes a long way to unite us as a team. And just having conversations about other people’s jobs—what support is doing, how the sales team is approaching prospects, things like that—I feel like I left the summit with a deeper understanding of the company as a whole and my role in it.” – Will Etling, Web Developer

Watch the video below to see some of the highlights from our activity-filled day at the beach.

FastSpring Co-Founder, Ken White, shared a brief history of FastSpring.

To wrap up three days of learning and activities, we had our very own Ken White give the team a brief history of FastSpring. It’s incredible to think about how much things have changed since the company was first started in 2005. With so many new people joining the team we were thrilled to have Ken walk everyone through how FastSpring came to be and what got us to where we are today.

“The summit was a great change of pace and tons of fun. I loved being able to see everybody in one place, and collaborating with people I don’t normally get a chance to work with day-to-day.” – Brian Hardy, Senior Software Engineer

Throughout the three day event, the team came together to embody the vision, mission, and values of the company. I’d also like to give a special shout-out to Team Eight for both of their victories during the event! Overall everyone is excited to focus their energy on continuing to build the leading all-in-one ecommerce platform.
