Currency and Language Settings

Storefronts use the customer’s IP address to set an order country. The order country determines the following information:

  • Default currency
  • Currency in which FastSpring displays prices
  • Tax ID field
  • Applicable VAT, GST, or other sales taxes included in the price
  • Available payment methods

FastSpring uses order countries to calculate appropriate taxes, display available payment methods, and update your store’s currency for a localized customer experience. Order countries do not determine order languages. 

You can override these settings with a default country for your store or storefront. For more information, see Add a Default Country below. 

You can limit languages and currencies for your store, and override default settings for individual storefronts. For a list of available currencies, see Currencies and Conversions.

Add a Default Country

Setting a default country for your storefront will override customer’s country selections and IP addresses. 

  1. In the Storefronts menu, navigate to the popup or web storefront you want to limit.
  2. Click More > Languages and Currencies. The Languages and Currencies popup window appears.
  3. In the Default Country field, enter the ISO country code of the country you want to use by default.
  4. Save your changes. Allow up to 10 minutes for the storefront to update.

Limit Available Currencies

When configuring your store or storefront, you can select which currencies you would like to support. Store settings apply to all storefront settings by default, however you can override settings for individual storefronts. 

If you disable a currency, customers from the associated regions will view product pricing and taxes in your store’s base currency .

Russian Rubles (RUB) and South African Rand (ZAR) are supported, but disabled for all stores by default. If you enable either of these currencies, PayPal is not available in the associated countries.

Limit Currencies for a Storefront

  1. In the Storefronts menu, navigate to the popup or web storefront you want to limit.
  2. Click More > Languages and Currencies. The Languages and Currencies popup window appears.
  3. Select Override Store Currencies. Currency checkboxes appear.
  4. Select the checkboxes of the currencies you wish to support. Deselect the checkboxes that you do not want to support.
  5. Save your changes. Allow up to 10 minutes for the storefront to update.

Limit Currencies for Your Store

When you limit available currencies for your store, the limitations apply to all storefronts within the store. You can override the limitations at the storefront level.

  1. Navigate to Settings > Store Settings > Localization.
  2. Under Available Currencies, select the checkboxes of each currency you wish to support. Deselect the checkboxes that you do not wish to support.
  3. Save your changes. Allow up to 10 minutes for the store to update.

Limit Available Languages

When configuring your storefront, you can select which languages you would like to support in that storefront. FastSpring will translate all text to the language associated with the customer’s location. 

  1. In the Storefronts menu, navigate to the popup or web storefront you want to limit.
  2. Click More > Languages and Currencies. The Languages and Currencies popup window appears.
  3. Select the Override Store Languages checkbox. Language checkboxes appear.
  4. Deselect the checkbox next to each language that you do not wish to support.
  5. Save your changes.
