Setting Up Affiliates and Split Pays
FastSpring offers three options relating to affiliates, royalty partners and split pay accounts. These options are described below so that you can determine which one best suits your needs and sign up or request the correct one in a support ticket.
Affiliates
FastSpring has chosen Impact Radius to power our affiliate solution. Impact Radius is a robust affiliate system that puts thousands of affiliates or media partners in touch with your product and campaign offerings. Your products can be seen on Impact Radius’s Marketplace, which will give you exposure to all of the Impact Radius affiliates. Grow your revenue quicker by having your existing affiliates and partners market your product(s) by signing up as an advertiser and registering your FastSpring products. See the FastSpring Affiliate Program page for more details.
Royalty Partners
FastSpring allows you to add royalty partners and this functionality allows you to give credit to your royalty partners, track their sales, and pay them a percentage of the sales they generate for your products. Your royalty partners can receive a certain percentage of the sale or a certain percentage of the revenue that is left after the FastSpring fee. We will contact you when each royalty partners signs up to get these details from you. For subscription products, royalty partners will receive their share for the initial subscription and all re-bills of the subscription.
What the Royalty Partner Does
The simplest method FastSpring offers is to have each of your royalty partners create an account within FastSpring by going to our payee sign up page, where companyid
is replaced with your SpringBoard login Company ID.

During the sign up process, the royalty partner will be asked for the name of your company and the email of the person who asked them to sign up. They will be given a SpringBoard login so that they can check on account balances and accounting reports, and so that they can tell us, in a secure setting, how they want to be paid.
What You Do for Royalty Partners
You need to provide your potential royalty partners with the above link to the payee sign up page. Once we receive their sign up, we will email you and ask about the type of relationship and percent you would like them to have. They could be a royalty partner who would earn a percentage of every sale on your store or on jointly developed products.
How Fees are Calculated
In a situation where you have a royalty partner, the amount of money you receive and your royalty partner receives is based on whether your royalty partner takes a certain percentage of the sale or a certain percentage of the revenue that is left after the FastSpring fee, as described below.
Option 1: Fee before Split Occurs: Fixed Percent of the Revenue
Let us say that the customer paid $100 for your product and that your partner gets a 70% split. $100 will go into your account, and then part of it comes out for the FastSpring fee. For the sake of this example, suppose the FastSpring fee was $5.00. (Your actual fees may vary.) So $5.00 would come out of the $100 order, leaving $95.00. Then your partner's 70% split would be deducted next and paid into their account; that is, ($95 x 0.70), or $66.50. This would leave ($95 - $66.50), or $28.50, credited to your account.
Option 2: Fee after Split Occurs: Fixed Percent of Sale Price
Let us say that the customer paid $100 for your product and that your partner gets a 70% split. $100 will go into your account, and then part of it comes out for the FastSpring fee. For the sake of this example, suppose the FastSpring fee was $5.00. (Your actual fees may vary.) So $5.00 would come out of the $100 order, leaving $95.00. Then your partner's 70% split would be deducted next and paid into their account; that is, ($100 x 0.70), or $70. This would leave ($95 - $70), or $25, credited to your account.
Refunds with Split Pay Accounts
For information on how returns are handled with split pay accounts, please see our article Refunds with Split Pay Accounts.
Split Pay
For clients that need to split their proceeds between more than one account, FastSpring offers the split pay option. For example, some clients choose to split their proceeds between their bank account and their PayPal account, or their bank account and their Payoneer account.
You will need to create an additional account within FastSpring by going to our payee sign up page, where companyid
is replaced with your SpringBoard login Company ID.

After you submit the form, we will email you within about 24 hours to get additional details.
Reseller Partners
FastSpring's reseller partner account functionality creates a well-defined relationship between an organization and a FastSpring client, which lays the foundation for scaling up reseller operations. A reseller partner is an individual or organization that will purchase products from you with the intention of reselling them rather than using them. If you would like to request a reseller partner store to be added to your account, please open a support ticket. For more information on the reseller program, including the capabilities of a Reseller Partner Store for you and your reseller partners, as well as how your reseller partners sign up, see Royalty Partner Accounts in SpringBoard.
Third-Party Integrations
You may already be working with a service that is an entire platform in itself and is devoted to managing affiliates. While the FastSpring solutions are appropriate for any number of partners, we also work with many third-party companies, including ShareASale, Commission Junction, LinkShare, and iDevAffiliate. See our support article on Affiliate Tracking with iDevAffiliate, or for information on integrating with any of these other third-party affiliate platforms, please open a support ticket.
